Occupy Parenting was started by Lindsay and Erik Curren, who are raising two teenage daughters in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
One day, they realized that their family wasn’t running the way they thought it should. Too much tension, too many conflicting expectations, too much trying to keep up with the Joneses, even in today’s tough economy.
Were they alone? Was it their fault? Or were they missing something?
They knew that other families had the same challenges. Inspired by Occupy Wall Street, they had begun to think about all the ways that big corporations had invaded every aspect of modern society. They knew that even the home was not safe.
So they connected the dots and decided that an individual solution was not enough. It was necessary to take the family back from the marketplace.
Occupy Parenting was Lindsay’s idea. Erik didn’t need to be told twice.
Its goal? To bring parents in the 99% together everywhere to free ourselves and our kids from the rule of greed, to restore peace in our families and to help ensure the next generation achieve their potential for love and compassion while balancing self-reliance with cooperation.
